Canadian English and Socio-linguistic Skills
The setting of a conversation as well as the age and relationships of the participants can have has much impact on the meaning of words as their dictionary definition. This is why socio-linguistic skills are important to develop.
This course explores Canadian values, communication norms and history as they are reflected in Canadian English. Participants improve their comprehension and begin to express themselves more clearly by incorporating more socio-linguistic features of Canadian English into their speech. This course also creates a forum in which to discuss the more personal aspects of adapting to work in Canadian English.
Customized to the specific needs of the sponsoring organization and participants, this course of twelve weekly, two-hour classes, examines the following aspects Canadian English:

- Formality
